Pass Out “Classify Matter Worksheet” In this activity you will use chemical and physical properties to classify substances.

Get the computers out of the cart 1 computer per 2 students.

Procedure for Table 1: Use your USOE Science Textbook or a computer ( 1 computer for 2 students) to help you find our about chemical and physical properties of each substance listed in Table 1. You should have at least two properties for chemical and two for physical for each substance. Pick two substances you are interested in to add to the table and do the same for them. Set the timer for 20 minutes. Have table 1 of the worksheet done in this amount of time.

After you finish table 1 go to the procedures on table 2.

Procedures for Table II On the table II, use the characteristics and list substances that you know of which have the properties listed. Add two properties you are interested in and do the same for them. Set the timer for 15 minutes.

Analysis Questions Answer the analysis questions. Use the remainder of time to finish the analysis questions. Those questions you have not finished must be finished for homework. The teacher will correct these worksheets tomorrow.
