The prosperity of the Roaring Twenties came to a crashing end in October 1929. During the Great Depression, millions of people lost their jobs, homes, and savings. A new president, Franklin Roosevelt, took sweeping measures that increased the size and power of the federal government. Essential Questions for the Chapter: 1.
