Change Requires Energy The Nature of Energy Change Requires Energy When something is able to change its environment or itself, it has energy. Energy is the ability to cause change. Anything that causes change must have energy.

Different Forms of Energy The Nature of Energy Different Forms of Energy Electromagnetic energy from the Sun travels a vast distance through space to Earth, warming the planet and providing energy that enables green plants to grow.

Types of Energy Radiant Energy is a type of electromagnetic energy which is energy that travels in waves such as light. Chemical energy is energy that is stored in chemical bonds Mechanical energy is energy associated with the motion or position of an object Thermal energy is the total energy of all particles in an object

Types of Energy Electrical energy is the energy of moving electrical charges. Nuclear energy is energy stored in the core, or nucleus of an atom. Gravitational Potential energy is energy that depends on height. Elastic Potential energy is the energy in something that can be stretched.

Kinds of Energy Each of the types of energy listed before fall into two different kinds of energy, potential and kinetic. Potential energy is stored energy waiting to be used. Kinetic energy is energy of motion.
