Presentation transcript:

Welcome to Advanced comp! Please choose a smart seat for yourself and begin working on your Student Information handouts. Put your schedule and transcript on the corner of your desk. I will be checking in the first 10 minutes of class.

Two-minute INTERVIEW & introductions When you find your partner(s), discuss the following questions. Be prepared to introduce your partner(s) to the class. Question: What is one interesting thing that most people do not know about you?

The 411 This is Advanced Composition (but it’s an on-level class). It is all about making your writing better. Alexandra.Yeganegi@cobbk12.org To send documents, email me here – amyeganegi@gmail.com Make the blog your new best friend: http://yeglit.weebly.com Remind101: Text @yeglit to 81010

Supplies you need Binder with five tabs Notebook Paper Pen - BRING ONE EVERY DAY! Suggested: Colored Pencils/Markers, Highlighter, index cards Helpful: Kleenex, hand sanitizer Book: Persepolis – You need this in April.

CLASS RULES Be respectful – of your teacher, peers, classroom, and yourself. Be responsible – for your own learning. Comply with all the school rules.

School Rules apply! Respectful Behavior Dress Code NO HATS or headgear! No HEADPHONES, cell phones, iPods, iPads, or any other electronic devices unless we are using them for INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES. Tardies – Get a pass. No exceptions. No food and drink in the classrooms. Food = Bugs. Ewwwww.

CONSEQUENCES Warning – Name on the board, verbal warning, tap on your desk, etc. Possibilities, depending on the problem…. Student/Teacher Conference Detention* Parent/Teacher Conference/Phone Call Time-Out Referral – Occurs for blatant disrespect, constant disregard of school rules, and/or multiple steps on #2 with no improvement

Beginning of class Come to the door. Say hello. Smile. Sit down. Take out your stuff. Read the board. Read the warm-up. Begin the warm-up. Stay in your seat. Work quietly. Get tickets!*

DURING Class Raise your hand when you have a question. *Chances are – if you have the question, someone else probably has it too. Please do NOT interrupt instruction to ask for bathroom, passes, etc. You need to wait for independent work time for that. Work diligently every day, and you will be fine.

END OF CLASS I know you want to leave! I do, too. BUT - You are not dismissed until I dismiss you! We will pick up the classroom EVERY DAY if you can’t do it yourself. You will complete your exit slip/summarizer/final instructions/whatever. Pet Peeve: PLEASE DO NOT GATHER AT THE DOOR!

SYLLABUS SCAVENGER HUNT Please use the course syllabus to answer all questions on the Syllabus Scavenger Hunt. You may work in partners. You have 10 minutes.

Brochure Scavenger Hunt Choose a brochure (made by students who just left this class). As you review it, jot down notes on your 4- square graphic organizer.

REMINDERS Finish and turn in your Student Information Handouts. Get the syllabus form signed by your parent/guardian. Get supplies ASAP! Summer Reading!! – Email me the link to your blog. 10% off on Thursday; 20% off on Friday. If for any reason you feel you should be exempt (i.e. you did not attend PHS last year) you need to send me an email or notify me in writing immediately.
