Getting Started – Sr. Cpts Information & Paperwork Warm Up Information Congrats to all – placed 3rd place at Northfield! Paperwork Registration – Winona Cotter If you CANNOT compete at Sections, we need to know TODAY! If you cannot present for Showcase, we need to know today. Rate/Rank Forms – keep filling these in after each meet Brought to you by Coach Lyke!

Cotter Meet Info. – Lyke Be here at 6:50 a.m. Bus leaves at 7 a.m. 3 Rounds and Finals No Novice divisions (sorry) Bring a lunch or money for lunch Home around 5:15 – 5:45 Everyone should be “off script” (This means your speech is fully memorized.) Continue to dress professionally

Cotter, Cont. – Lyke Draw categories: you will draw from ALL stories and/or topics – you will draw for EACH round ** No WIFI/Internet for Ex Spk & Disco Discussion: Section 2 Awards: 3:15 (approximately) – Gym Stay dressed up until after awards CLEAN UP! Please clean up our area in the cafeteria and gym when we visit schools

Cotter Schedule – Lyke 7:45-8:15 a.m. Team Registration Draws – 8:30 a.m. Round I - 9:00 a.m. Round II – 10:30 a.m. Round III – 12:00 p.m. Finals – 2:00 p.m. approximately TIMING: One preliminary round will be timed for each category. Finals: ALL CATEGORIES The timers will stand at seven or 10 minutes (category dependent). Finish the sentence you are on. No worries. Storytellers and Extemp. Speakers – you are allowed one final sentence/concluding statement after time is shown.

Big 9 Information — Adam Tuesday, March 20 39 entries – Big 9 Rules – ALL COMPETITORS CHECK IN WITH NIELAND BY 2nd HOUR! Excused from 5-8th hours (the WHOLE team is excused if you want to watch and support the team.) You must go to school hours 1-4 to compete. Meet at Godfathers for lunch/team building. Back to JM. Bus leaves 1:30. Awards – 8:00ish – Home around 9:30-10:00 p.m. If you are SICK/CANNOT compete you must contact NIELAND by 9:00 AM on Tuesday! You must go to school on Wednesday too.

Practices this Week – Lyke Due to Timecards being used at Cotter… We’ll be practicing with timecards starting today, and will continue through the end of the season Due to Big 9 on Tuesday… If you practice on Tuesdays, reschedule this week’s practices with your coach (if you’ve not already done so). See Extra Practice sign up on the website.

Audience Behavior – Lyke Treat the speaker as you would like to be treated! Judges are watching audience behavior as well as performances. Cell phones are silenced and put away during rounds! Do not eat/drink while speakers are performing. Do not talk during the round. You may talk with each other before the judge enters the room. Be respectful of the judge. Do not talk about the round/competitors/judges at the meet. Wait until you get on the bus. Someone may overhear you.

Section Team – Lyke Limited again to 39 entries Section Team will be announced Monday, March 26 – NOT necessarily the same as the Big 9 team Considerations: Success this season Practice and meeting attendance Dedication Age

Guest Coach Practices – Lyke We’ve two weeks with this structure: March 27th - 29th April 9rd - 11th This applies only to those on the SECTION TEAM Section Team Speakers must practice at least twice each of these weeks: Once with Coach Nieland/Lyke/Adam Once with a Guest Coach Sign-up online starting Friday the 23th: sign-up doc. will be in the Super Secret Speech folder

Wardrob Q and A – Lyke Big 9 Conference and Sections Dress to kill! Wear your most professional outfit. Be aware of skirt length. Be aware of cleavage! Yes, Henrik, this includes you. Will do at the next meeting.

Family & Friend Showcase Night April 9 ALL Attend - Final Team Meeting – 3:15 Turn in Pink Point Sheets if you are done with season Quick update on Open Practices and Sections Bring 1 dozen cookies/bars; beverages provided Meet in Rocket Center – 7 p.m. Break out into assigned rooms Done around 8:30 p.m. Will do at a later meeting.

Before our last activity – Sr. Capt. Dress up for tomorrow: the entire day Get some rest tonight! – At least 8 hours! Be “ON” for Round I Set aside stressors from the school day Run through you speech a few times Power Pose for 2+ minutes Remember & recite your mantra Team Warm Up @ 2:45 Have FUN!
