Over Emotional Emotion Series Inspired by Dorothea Lange Photography by Jeremiah Davidson

About Dorothea Dorothea was born on May 26, 1895 in Hoboken, New Jersey and died on October 11, 1965 (age 70) in San Francisco, California due to esophageal cancer. She worked as a photo finisher before she opened a successful portrait studio. She captured The Great Depression starting with the White Angel Breadline. She has an exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She was famous for capturing the emotions of those in The Great Depression

Example Photos

Signature style Her photographs borrow techniques from the lexicon of modernism – dramatic angles and dynamic compositions – to create startling and jarring images of her subjects. Tried to prove art isn’t mutually exclusive. Not only depression but also post-war years.

Inspiration My inspiration was that the pictures both show emotion and I think I captured it well.

Twist My personal twist was that instead of the people showing the emotion I tried to get the background and surroundings to show emotion.

Favorite Photo This was my favorite photo because I think the emotion of the person and the emotions of their surroundings are one in the same.
