What Is OUR Carbon Footprint? By Elle Mia and Ashleigh Bethan

YOU Why Should Calculate Your Carbon Footprint You should calculate your carbon footprint because it is very interesting to know how much emissions you used in a year. We think you should choose to write to a Calculate Your Carbon Footprint company, to promote more websites and, for every house hold to calculate their carbon footprint per year and try to improve their emissions. We can do this by making adverts for everyone to know about.

Step 1 The Heaters We calculated Furze Platt Junior School’s carbon footprint during our Keen to Be Green geography topic. Count How Many Heaters Are In The School? We found 50 heaters and radiators all around the school! We then entered this into the computer.

Most of this is made up by the annual trip to R-Y-G! Step 2 The Trips We found out that the school is heated by oil and that the average school trip mileage comes to 3000 miles per year. Most of this is made up by the annual trip to R-Y-G!

Dont YOU think WE CAN improve this? Step 3 The Bills Electric Bill: £8000 per year Gas Bill: £600 per year Fuel and Oil Bill: £5500 per year Dont YOU think WE CAN improve this?

Step 4 The Recycling Luckily, because we recycle Aluminium cans Steel Cans Plastic Glass And Newspaper It lowered our emissions by a good amount. At least that is one thing that we can’t beat!

WHAT DO YOU THINK IT ALL CAME TO? ???.????TONNES OF CARBON DIOXIDE PER YEAR

TONNES OF CARBON DIOXIDE PER YEAR 8 5 5 3 6 2 . TONNES OF CARBON DIOXIDE PER YEAR

Now that we know what Furze Platt Junior Schools carbon footprint is for 1year, we can try and improve it next year! Try things like ; Turn off lights, heaters and computers technology when we are not in the room When it is a warm day-we DON’T need heating at all! But the good news is our recycling standards are very impressive, so keep it up!
