Where Do Babies Come From? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkJTZqD6R7k

Cut Out Cut out the definitions from the Female Reproductive System paper and place them in your workbook WITHOUT gluing. See how much you know. 

The Beginning Menstruation: when the lining of the uterus is shed Ovulation: when a mature egg leaves the ovary and goes into the fallopian tube Fertilization: when the sperm gradually penetrates the surface of the ova (egg) You only need ONE sperm and ovum Conception: When the egg and sperm (embryo) have settled and continue down the fallopian tube Implantation: when the embryo is stopped in the endometrium lining

Online – Menstrual Cycle http://kidshealth.org/misc/movie/bodybasics/bodybasics_f emale_repro.html If doesn’t work: http://kidshealth.org/en/teens/menstruation.html?WT.ac=t- ra#catchanging-body

***DON’T WRITE THE RED!

FEMALE Cervix: lower, narrow portion of uterus that dilates and opens to allow passage of menstrual blood and during birth Endometrium Lining: lining of uterus EXTRA INFO - During menstrual cycle, thickens to prep for embryo. If ova was not fertilized, then thickened lining is reduced and expelled during menstruation Fallopian Tube: long, slender ducts; transport ova from ovary to the uterus OR sperm cells from uterus to ova Ovaries: reproductive gland where ovum (eggs) are produced

FEMALE Ovum (Ova): female reproductive cell (egg) Uterus: expands during pregnancy to hold growing fetus, contracts during labor to deliver the child Vagina: muscular tube leading from external genitals to cervix of uterus in women Perineum: the surface area between the anus and vulva (opening in vagina) in female and anus and scrotum in male

Cut Out Cut out the definitions for the MALE Reproductive System from the paper and place them in your workbook WITHOUT gluing. See how much you know. 

MALE Sperm: male reproductive cell Semen: the thick, sticky fluid which contains sperm ejaculated by male penis Scrotum: the external pouch that contains the testicles and epididymis Penis: the male organ in which semen and urine exit the body Testicles: two sex glands that produce the male reproductive cells called sperm and the male hormone testosterone.

MALE Epididymis: the place where sperm are stored until they ripen and mature Urethra: the passageway to transfer urine or semen outside the body Accessory Glands: (Cowper’s Gland and Prostate Gland) Provide fluid that lubricate the duct system and nourish the sperm Vas Deferens: the passageway carrying the sperm from the epididymis to the seminal vesicles Seminal Vesicles: two pouch-like structures which serve to store mature sperm until ejaculated.
