Settlement patterns There are 3 main settlement patterns that are dependant on economic opportunities (need jobs!). Linear settlement: line pattern, usually along major waterways (transportation & trade) Scattered settlement: dispersed and apart from each other. Living conditions make it difficult (e.g., northern Canada) Clustered settlement: very close to each other, people living together (e.g., gta)
Population density Population density: Country’s average of people living in a square kilometer of land. Population Growth Video A country’s population density is classified in one of three categories: Sparse: 14 or less people per square KM Moderate: 15 – 149 people per square km Dense: 150 or more people per square km Using the formula, calculate the population density of each country, and identify if it’s sparse, moderate or dense.
