Results & Data Analysis Introduction IPPE Clinical acts as an introduction to the APPE rotation for P3 students. Students are tasked with writing a SOAP note, answering a DI question, and presenting a patient case Students are then assessed on their ability to complete these task concisely and competently through a case presentation with a faculty grader Introduction Objectives & Methods Results & Data Analysis Discussion Conclusion

Results & Data Analysis Results & Data Analysis Objectives To provide process improvement on evaluation of student performance on IPPE Clinical rotation SOAP notes. To analyze three years worth of data on student performance on SOAP notes and provide an understanding of what the outcomes were on students’ performance. To identify ways to empower the students at the College of Pharmacy to become experts at documentation and clear communication. Results & Data Analysis Methods Access the readiness of student in their skills of communicating important patient information. Collected the past three years of students scores. Results & Data Analysis Methods: DI question Components: was the question clear and relevant to the case, was there evidence to support the answer, did the student come up with an answer to the question, did the student convey their writing clearly, and was their references cited in their paper? Results & Data Analysis A total of 318 students were evaluated on their IPPE Clinical SOAP note performance in three separate years, 2015-2016 (107 students), 2016-2017 (108 students) and 2017-2018 (103 students). A high percentage of students were competent in their SOAP note presentation with 91%, 93% and 90% of students being competent for the years of 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 respectively. Results & Data Analysis Discussion Limitations: Evaluation of presentations varied No set goal for competency score The students’ presentations on their SOAP note were evaluated by different faculty graders, allowing for some variability in the scores received. Based on the fourteen areas highlighted in the grading rubric on the SOAP note, there was not a single score categorized as achieved competency. Results & Data Analysis Discussion The section of the SOAP note that required the most revision after the presentation to a faculty grader was; Information presented is restricted to that which is relevant to the diseases or problems addressed below. Results & Data Analysis Conclusion Majority of students showed competence in their IPPE Clinical SOAP Note. The grading rubric used to analyze student performance were solely focused on a student being competent or not.
