Changes Physical Reversible Irreversible Chemical EXAMPLES?
A Physical Property is a property that can be observed without changing the make up of the substance. You just look at it - or measure it. Examples are:
Sixth Grade Science. Physical Change A physical change is a type of change that does not change what the substance is. If you put a cup of water in the.
Matter. Smallest basic unit of matter. An element is made of one type of atom. Atoms combine to form molecules. A molecule can be made from two or more.
ChangesPhysicalReversibleIrreversibleChemical The world around us (matter) is always in a a state of flux. All changes involve some form of energy transfer.

Physical & Chemical Changes

Physical Changes A Physical Change is when an object changes a physical property. A change in size, shape, texture, or state (phase). The object still is the same thing.

Examples of Physical Changes Ripped Paper Boiling Water Cutting Hair Broken Brick

Chemical Changes A Chemical Change is a change in the chemical make-up of the object. The object becomes a new object. Something new is created.

Keys to Identifying a Chemical Change Color change Temperature change Formation of a gas, bubbles, or odor. Formation of a precipitate.

Examples of Chemical Changes Fireworks exploding An apple rotting Baked cookies Photosynthesis/Respiration Digestion Combustion (burning)

Is It a Physical or Chemical Change? Burning House Chemical Melting Ice Physical Cutting Grass

Chemical Reaction -- A process in which some substances change into different substances. Ex: Magnesium + Oxygen  Magnesium Oxide + =

Chemical Equations: Reactants Products Reactants – starting substance On left of arrow Products – ending substance… what is produced. On right of arrow Reactants Products
