Nailpolish Test:) Katherine Mackan 12/11/13

What Color of Nail polish Dries Faster? What will it be blue, pink, red?

I decided to do this project because i know I’m not the only girl that likes to have my nails painted. I am testing to see which dries faster because if I’m in a hurry i need something that will dry fast. I don’t always have enough time to paint my nails for something going on later so i need one that will dry fast.

Hypothesis If i use blue nail polish it will dry faster then the pink and red nail polish.

Variables Independent- color of nail polish Dependent- how long it takes to dry Constant- brand, same person, and room temperature

Procedure 1. Gather materials 2. Paint nail a color of the same brand 3. Time how fast nail polish dries 4. Record data 5. Repeat for each color nail polish

Time the polish took to dry in seconds Data 153 seconds 114 seconds 104 seconds Time the polish took to dry in seconds Color of nail polish

Table Color Time Blue 104 seconds Pink 114 seconds Red 153 seconds

Conclusion Which color nail polish will dry faster? You have to take different colors of nail polish, time how long it takes to dry then record your data to find out which dried faster. The blue nail polish dried at a time of one minute and forty four seconds, the pink made a time of one minute and fifty four seconds, and the red took two minutes and thirty three seconds. My data supports my hypothesis because I predicted that the blue nail polish would dry fastest and it did. I learned that just because its a darker color doesn’t mean it will take the longest to dry. The only problem I had was when I was putting on the red nail polish I accidentally smeared the red nail polish so it took less time to dry then it should have. Otherwise, my project went very well.
