Viral : Shingles is characterized by a painful skin rash with blisters in a limited area on one side of the body, often in a stripe. It can become latent in the nerve cells without causing any symptoms. Risk Factors: Had chickenpox
Parasites : Scabies is a contagious skin infection that occurs among humans and other animals. It is caused by a tiny and usually not directly visible mite, which burrows under the host's skin, causing intense allergic itching. Risk Factors: Skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or object.
Parasites : Hookworm is one of the most common roundworm of humans. Risk Factors: Hookworm infections often occur in areas where human feces are used as fertilizer or where defecation onto soil happens.
Fungi : Blastomycosis The fungus lives in moist soil and in association with decomposing organic matter such as wood and leaves. Lung infection can occur after a person inhales airborne, microscopic fungal spores from the environment. Risk Factors: Living in Mississippi or the Ohio Valley areas
Fungi : Fungal Karatitis is an inflammation of the cornea (the clear, front part of the eye) and is often caused by an infection. Risk Factors: Recent eye trauma Contact use Weakened immune system
Protozoan's : Sleeping Sickness caused by the protozoa trypanosoma brucei, is transmitted by the tsetse fly. Risk Factors: Being in underdeveloped countries.
Protozoan’s : Toxoplasmosis is caused by Toxoplasma gondii. Risk Factors: Infection is caused by eating contaminated meat, accidental ingestion of cat feces or possibly by eating unwashed vegetables.
Bacteria : Botulism is a rare but serious illness caused by Clostridium botulinum bacteria. Risk Factors: The bacteria may enter the body through wounds, or they may live in improperly canned or preserved food.
Bacteria : TB (Tuberculosis) Caused by breathing in air droplets from a cough or sneeze of an infected person. Risk Factors: Age Living in poor conditions Being around an infected person.
