Fun with Variables!

There are 4 different variables in a scientific investigation: Independent Variable Dependent variable Control Constant

Variables Independent Variable= What is purposely changed in an experiment Dependent Variable= What happens as a result of the change

Control and Constant Constant= what remains the same Control=A variable that remains unchanged or held constant to prevent its effects on the outcome

Example= Mrs. Yeager wants to find out which shoe made her look taller. She first measured herself without any shoes, then purchased 3 different types of shoes. She put on each shoe and recorded her measurements standing on the same type of floor and using the same ruler. 1. What is the IV? 2. What is the DV? 3. What is the constant? 4. What is the control?
