1. Students want to determine which type of plant will best survive in a hot, dry environment. They place four different types of plants in identical pots, and put all of the plants by the same large window. They give each plant the same amount of water every day. Which of these is the manipulated variable for the students’ experiment? health of plant type of plant amount of sunlight

2. A fast food restaurant sells three main type of food (slices of pizza, hamburgers, and tacos). The restaurant owner wants to know which type of food is being sold the most. So over a period of 30 days he tracks how much each type of food is sold.   What is the responding variable in this experiment? a. The different cost for each type of food b. The amount of time that he tracked the food being sold (30 days) c. The amount of each type of food being sold

3. A student wondered if drinking an energy drink could enable you to run faster. So she asked ten 8th grade students to act as an experimental group. Each student ran 20m as fast as they could after drinking 355mL (12oz) of energy drink.
