Islamic Invasions After the death of Muhammad Islam spreads out of Arabia during the 7th century (600 A.D.) Moors- Arab Islamic group from N. Africa Successfully conquers Spain

Feudalism Political system set up as a defensive structure -King- Leader of a feudal society -Lord- Owner of land -Knight- Defender of land, paid by the - lords -Serf- Peasant or Farmer Castle- Well defended structure to protect King, Lords, Knights Fief- a land grant given in exchange for service

Chivalry Chivalry- Ideal behavior by knights and Gentleman Duty to Christians, God, and Women Peace of God- Poor and weak should be protected Truce of God- time when war shouldn’t be fought
