DOUBLE INEQUALITIES Remember from a previous lesson …….. Swop both sides Merge Together

DOUBLE INEQUALITIES This is a Double Inequality. It is also SOLVED. Why? This is a Double Inequality. It is NOT yet SOLVED. We need to get x on its own. Add -1 to all 3 “sides” SOLVED. Let’s graph it on a number line

DOUBLE INEQUALITIES

SOLVING DOUBLE INEQUALITIES SOLVE and show the solutions on a number line Add -1 to all parts Divide by 2 across all parts Double Inequality Solved!

SOLVING DOUBLE INEQUALITIES SOLVE and show the solutions on a number line Add -1 to all parts Divide by -2 across all parts but remember to change the inequality signs Double Inequality Solved! Let’s Flip it so it looks like the ones we have done so far

SOLVING DOUBLE INEQUALITIES SOLVE and show the solutions on a number line Add -2 to all parts Divide by 5 across all parts Double Inequality Solved!

USEFUL TIP The rules for Solving an DOUBLE Inequality are IDENTICAL to the rules for solving any inequality. Instead of having just a LHS and RHS, we have a LHS, a MIDDLE and a RHS.
