RATIONAL NUMBERS CCGPS - NS.7c and 7d

A number that can be written as a fraction in the form a b RATIONAL NUMBERS A number that can be written as a fraction in the form a b a and b are both integers b ≠ 0 . The denominator cannot be zero, but the numerator can.

Can be positive or negative RATIONAL NUMBERS Can be positive or negative

Rational #’s Include INTEGERS – Whole numbers and their opposites. Zero is included. 4 can be written as 4 1 -13 can be written as - 13

Rational #’s Include INTEGERS – To rename an integer as a fraction, place the integer (as the numerator) over 1 (the denominator).

Rational #’s Include Proper FRACTIONS ¾ (in the form a/b)

Rational #’s Include MIXED NUMBERS 2¼ = 9 4 Multiply the denominator by the whole number. Then, add the numerator. Keep the denominator the same.

PERCENTS 8% = 8 = 2 100 25 Rational #’s Include 8% = 8 = 2 100 25 The percent becomes the numerator and 100 becomes the denominator. Then, simplify.

Rational #’s Include Terminating Decimals 0.9 can be written as 9 10 Digits to the right of the decimal becomes the numerator. The place value of the last digit is the denominator.

Rational #’s Include Repeating Decimals 0.333… can be written as 1 3
