All American Boys – Quinn 1 Vocabulary

Vocabulary – Quinn 1 fidgety – (adj.) restless, nervous, jerky movements His skinny arms and legs were all fidgety. pivoted – (verb) to keep one foot in place while moving the other foot one step in any direction. He dipped, pivoted, and swung around me like he was going up for an easy layup. epic – (adj.) spectacular, very impressive, awesome I would go on these epic runs all around town vaguely – (adv.) not clear or recognizable by sight or any other sense. He was vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t place him. pummeling – (verb) to strike repeatedly with fists He was pummeling the guy. commuter – (adj) referring to people who travel to work long distances from the suburbs to the city’s downtown. On the other side were the tracks to the commuter rail. embankment – (noun) a man-made ridge of earth or stone that carries a road or railway. We ran along the pebble embankment of the railway. rage – (noun) intense, violent anger I couldn’t shake that look of rage I’d seen on the face of a man I knew and thought of as family.
