Expectations for dialogue (conversation) Students create an introductory skit/dialogue to present to the class The skit/dialogue must contain: 4 questions and answers in Spanish Vocabulary from the current unit (introductions) At least 2 different greetings in Spanish At least 2 different farewells (goodbyes) in Spanish At least 10 lines total (meaning each person would have to say at least 5 sentences in Spanish) Students must: Provide a written copy of the skit/dialogue to the teacher Perform the skit/dialogue in class (memorized) OR record conversation at home (memorized) and send as a video file to Sra. Wolak

DIALOGUE RUBRIC 0-3 4-7 8-10 Pronunciation Complete/length Dialogue is not well understood Most words mispronounced Some errors in pronunciation, some phrases/questions unclear but meaning is overall understood. Very few pronunciation errors. Dialogue is well understood by classmates and teacher Complete/length Dialogue is missing many components including the key vocabulary. Dialogue missing 1 or more requirements. Dialogue meets length requirements and contains all required materials Comprehension /authenticity Dialogue seems forced and students are unprepared. Students use English in dialogue or do not understand their partners. Students read off of paper/ dialogue not memorized Dialogue seems forced but students understand each other and respond appropriately Presenters understand each other and use visual and oral cues to finish the conversation. Dialogue appears authentic. Accuracy of grammar and vocabulary Many vocabulary and grammar errors and meaning of dialogue is not clear Some grammar/vocabulary errors, but meaning is still clear There are no vocabulary or grammar mistakes in the dialogue. Creativity /Presentation Student did not present dialogue to the class. Dialogue was presented but not memorized by students. Dialogue is presented but seems forced. Students might use some props, but they do not enhance the dialogues comprehension. Dialogue is very entertaining and students use props or creative situations in dialogue. DIALOGUE RUBRIC

Student checklist Use this checklist to guide you while writing the dialogue to make sure you meet all requirements. You have 2 greetings in Spanish You have 2 goodbyes in Spanish You have 4 different questions in Spanish You have 4 answers to those questions in Spanish You have a creative situation for your meeting. Is it authentic? Does your skit seem like it is two people meeting for the first time? You practiced many times with your partner (or alone) to make sure you know all of your lines. (optional) You have props for your performance Check off if complete!

Deciding who to work with Choice #1 Choice #2 Work ALONE! If you work alone you must: -create a dialogue/skit designed for 2 people, but perform both parts OR -create a skit/dialogue designed for 1 person, but you must have 4 questions and answers in Spanish, but only 1 greeting and 1 goodbye Work with ONE other person If you work with a partner you must: -work/write skit together -perform the skit together
