Plaster Sculptures Carving and Emotions

Henry Moore English Sculptor and Artist (1898- 1986) His sculptures are abstracted human forms, often with pierced or hollow areas. His work is giant and made of marble or cast bronze. His artwork is all over the world as public works of art.

Our sculptures Small scale Carved from plaster Will be all white Must have one hollow/pierced area (negative space!) Abstract and simple FORMS.

How can a abstract sculpture show an emotion?! While Moore’s pieces were based on the human figure, ours will be based on an emotion. How can a abstract sculpture show an emotion?!

Today Pick a feeling or emotion you would like to use as the inspiration for your sculpture. Draw ten different sketches for your carved sculpture. Make sure to include a pierced area or negative space. Keep in mind that the sculpture will remain white. Check with Mrs. Wolfe when you’re finished.
