Course Registration Interaction between student and advisor

Registration Hold (aka Advisor’s Hold) Registration Hold (checkbox) can be: Checked Unchecked Checked – in this case a student is not able to add/drop a course when a student has sent the schedule for approval when an advisor has approved the student’s schedule when the hold is manually put by an advisor for some reason Unchecked – in this case a student is able to add/drop a course when the schedule has been denied by an advisor when the hold is manually removed by an advisor

Advising Status Not Registered – student has not yet registered for any course Changed – waiting for student’s action, i.e. student registered for some courses, but has not sent the schedule for approval yet Pending – student sent the schedule for approval to the advisor; the advisor is required to check the schedule, then either approve or deny it. Approved – the student’s schedule has been approved by the advisor Denied – the student’s schedule has been denied by the advisor

Processing of Schedule Approval Request Find the students with the Pending status in the advisees’ list Double click on such a student to see the enrolled courses If the enrolled courses fit the student’s degree plan, click Approve do not fit the student’s degree plan, click Deny, and provide a reason.

Pending Registration Students who are taking a pre-requisite in the current term Registration for an upper-level course is recorded with Pending status After the final grades have been posted, students are either dropped from or added to the course that’s been registered as pending Pending registration is counted into the credits enrolled until it’s checked

Retake Policy Retaking a course is granted for a student who receives a grade that would prevent academic progress in his or her program of study No limit to the number of times a student may retake a course No limit to the number of eligible courses for which retakes are permitted All attempts remain in the student’s record and on the transcript Only the last retake is counted in the final CGPA and total earned credits

Academic Policies and Procedures min 24ECTS (underload is permitted only with an approval from the Dean and Vice Provost) max 36ECTS (overload is permitted only with an approval from the Dean and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs) Withdrawal only once for the same course Under no circumstances may a student be on academic probation more than two consecutive semesters or for more than three semesters in total Academic warning notice after the midterm status reports

Advising notes: recommendations Chronological Note Summary Note Process Note Replied student’s email. Replied student’s email regarding withdrawal deadline. Replied student’s email regarding desire to withdraw from Programming class. Informed student the withdrawal deadline is March 27. Invited in for advising session. Suggested student contact me prior to withdrawing to discuss options. Process notes can most effectively protect advisors and the institution from the claim that “no one told me,” or “I didn’t know.”
