Ideas Content (the MOST important part of ANY essay) thesis = clear & carried throughout Fully developed details, examples, PROOF.

Organization strong & engaging intro. effective & varied transitions strong topic sentences Conclusion provides closure without repetition.

Style diction (word choice) formal & sustained tone strong sentence variety (simple, compound, complex sentences etc.)

Conventions No major mechanical errors = 5 (highest score) or “strong” punctuation spelling capitalization S/V agreement Verb tense

MLA Format -Follows MLA exactly -Integrates all quotes correctly -Parenthetical documentation: (Smith 16). -Correct Works Cited
