Language Development The Steps to learning language: 1. A person must learn to make signs both verbal and non-verbal. 2. They must learn the meaning of signs. 3. Then they must learn the grammar.

Cognitive Development Jean Piaget believed that intelligence develops gradually through a childs young years. Intellectual development involves: - Quantitative Changes: growth in the amount of info. - Qualitative Changes: differences in the manner of thinking.

Cognitive Development Cont. A schema is a conceptual Framework a person uses to make sense of the world. When events do not fit into an existing schema, a new schema is formed.
