Solids Particles inside a solid are fixed into place. Solids have a FIXED or DEFINITE volume and shape. REMEMBER: Volume is how much space something takes up. Although you might not see it, particles in a solid are moving slightly by vibrating in place.
Examples of Solids
Liquids Particles in liquids move around each other. Liquids have a FIXED or DEFINITE volume but they take the shape of the container they are in. For example, when you pour milk into a glass, the milk takes the shape of the glass. Some liquids are thick like a milkshake and some are thin like apple juice. But all liquids can be poured.
Examples of Liquids
Gases A gas has no fixed shape and no fixed volume. It will fill up whatever space it has. The wind and air are examples of gases. Even though you cannot see them, you can feel them.
Example of Gases

Questions
How can you explain the difference between solids, liquids, and gases?
Does it have a fixed volume or not? Do the particles move? Can it be poured? Does it take the shape of it’s container?
Is being a solid, liquid, or gas a physical property of matter?
Yes
