Systems of regulation

Endocrine system function Regulates the body’s activities using hormones secreted by ductless glands Hormones: Chemical messengers Endocrine system controls: mood regulation, growth and development, tissue function, metabolism, sexual function and reproductive processes.

How does the endocrine system help with regulation? The pituitary gland secretes nine hormones that directly regulate many body functions and controls functions of other glands. Adrenal glands release Adrenaline helps prepare for and deal with stress. Pancreas help to keep the level of glucose in the blood stable Thyroid regulates the body’s metabolism

Nervous system function Control center for the body Receives, processes, and sends electrical signals

How does the Nervous system help with regulation? The hypothalamus helps maintain the body’s homeostasis. Hypothalamus also plays a central role in regulating as sleep, thirst, hunger, sex and emotional and stress responses. The hypothalamus receives inputs about the state of the body, and must be able to initiate changes if an imbalance occurs. The hypothalamus also controls the pituitary gland (master gland) https://www.reference.com/science/nervous-system-endocrine-system-work-together-bc5f857fc9ecc5d5

Respiratory system function Gas exchange between the external environment and the blood

How does the respiratory system help with regulation? Regulate blood pH level by exhaling carbon dioxide gas

Excretory system function Filter blood Rid the body of waste (urine)

How does the excretory system help with regulation? The kidney : Balance Blood water-salt which helps regulate blood volume and pressure Balance acid-and base in blood- controlling blood pH Excrete wastes
