Reforming the Earth Plate Tectonics Boundaries Earthquakes Volcanoes Random
The Ring of Fire consists of chains of active volcanoes around the Pacific. What type of plate boundary are these volcanoes adjacent to? 1.Transform 2.Convergent.
 An earthquake is ground movements that occur when blocks of rock in Earth move suddenly and release energy.  Earthquakes occur along fault lines. ◦

Earthquakes A sudden shaking of earth as rocks break along a fault or plate boundary A sudden shaking of earth as rocks break along a fault or plate boundary.
 The lithosphere is broken up into what are called tectonic plates. In the case of Earth, there are currently eight major and many minor plates  Earthquakes,
Earthquakes. What are earthquakes? Vibration in the ground that result from movement along faults. Fault = a break in Earth’s lithosphere where one block.

Faults and Earthquakes Fault zone- large expanses of rock where movement has occurred. Epicenter- the exact point on the surface of Earth directly above the location where the rock ruptures. Richter scale- a measure of the largest ground movement that occurs during an earthquake. The scale increases by a factor of 10, so an earthquake of 7 is 10 times greater than an earthquake of 6.
