OMAM Chapter 5
Marginalized Group: Millennials Claim: Millennials are not lazy for not staying in one job nor are they tech-savvy. Evidence: According to Jacqui Martinez, an “Contrary to their reputation for hopping from one position to another, millennials are capable of staying in a job—it’s just that most of them have not had that luxury due to repeated layoffs in recent years.” ( Interpretation: Millennials cannot stay in one job due to the fact that they get laid off often, not by choice. Transition: Additionally, millennials are not tech-savvy or lazy for using technology. Evidence: As stated by generational expert Jason Dorsey, “the reality is that Millennials are not tech-savvy. We are tech-dependent, and there’s an important distinction. We don’t know how technology works; we just know we cannot live without it.” (Dorsey, 2017)
Interpretation 1.Give the context of the quote and explain what it means. 2.Give a specific example that relates to the evidence and helps proves the claim 3. Make a connection back to the claim.
