College Application Essay Guidelines Watkins Junior English

Guidelines Essay should be about you! Write in correct but conversational English. Avoid too many big words and don’t abuse your thesaurus! Answer the question! Use a hook Show, not tell. Use detail and experience.

Guidelines Be concise and focused. Use active voice. Avoid passive voice. The boy threw the ball. The ball was thrown by the boy. Include transitions and sentence variety. Conclude effectively. Avoid simple summary. Avoid cliches and forced quotes (also, be careful with humor).
