The Balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet One of Those Nights: The Balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet

Journal After listening to Tim McGraw’s song “One of Those Nights,” answer the following questions: What is this song about? What feeling does the song describe? How does it make you feel as the listener? How does it relate to what the audience just saw unfold in Act I, Scene 5?

Lyrics She slides in and you roll down Main Street, You turn right when that red light turns green Sun sets now, you're half way to heaven She picks a song, you turn it up to 11 You say, "Do you wanna?" and she says, "Hell, yeah" So you hit the party, all your buddies are jealous Someday you'll be looking back on your life At the memories, this is gonna be one of those nights Crowded backyard, everybody's laughing Kinda party, next week you'll say I was there when it happened Coming up on midnight, bout time to get gone And then the DJ starts to play your favorite song You slow dance for 3 minutes or so, and then she whispers, "Baby, let's go." Someday when you're looking back on your life At the memories, this is gonna be one of those nights Yeah, one of those nights

The Balcony Scene As you watch Zeffirelli’s film adaption of the balcony scene, think about the characterization in the scene: What do you notice about how Romeo and Juliet are behaving? How would you describe their personalities as portrayed in this scene? What connections from your own experience can you make with the characters? Write down your observations below. Use the dialogue with the text method we practiced at the beginning of the year to help make observations of the scene.
