Metals are found on the left hand side of the periodic table, most elements are metals.

Would you classify it as a metal or non-metal? A metalloid is an element that either has a mixture of metal and non-metal properties or has properties in between them. Germanium has these properties: • grey-white shiny solid • melting point 937°C • semi-conductor • reacts with chlorine to form the chloride (GeCl4) which is a liquid molecular compound • germanium oxide reacts with acids to form a salt solution and water. It also reacts with alkalis. Would you classify it as a metal or non-metal?
