Argentina’s population is 97% European. South America Today Most indigenous groups live in the Andes region of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Argentina’s population is 97% European.

In Guyana, almost half the population is of South Asian descent. People in S. America are often bilingual.

The majority of S. Americans are Roman Catholic. Many people also practice syncretism.

Many people leave school early to help support their family. In urban upper and middle classes, the family unit consists of a nuclear household rather than an extended family.

People in the Atacama Desert set up fog traps to collect water and increase water supply.

Venezuela holds most of the region’s oil reserves. Resources Venezuela holds most of the region’s oil reserves. Large amounts of gold are found at the foothills of the Orinoco River

Peru is known for silver. Brazil produces coffee. Colombia has the world’s finest emeralds.

Chile is the world’s largest exporter of copper.
