Two types of surveys EU-SILC Big Survey on Income and Living Conditions, quite very demanding for NSIs, a cross-sectional and a longitudinal (panel) component Extended definition of income Requires calibration with other household-related results: census, National account, LFS, HBS, etc.. Will be compulsory at time of EU Membership A review of EU-SILC in 2012 may lead to changes Serbia is willing to conduct a SILC survey Household Budget Survey with extra modules EU-SILC definitions to be used wherever possible Most NSIs in Western Balkans will start with “extended HBS” Private companies can be involved only in certain circumstances
Modules in the extended HBS Demographics Housing Education Health Employment Migration Income 7-9 core questions are foreseen on each theme Flexibility to modify the questionnaire to reflect each country’s needs First test planned to take place in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2010 NSI is almost always the main counterpart for all coopearion instruments, but also other institutions in the NSS may benefit. Private experts can only be used after procurements procedures
