Do Now: Copy this into your copybook. It should take up the whole paper. Crusades Started:1099 AD Body of Water: Mediterranean Sea Area Ruled: Stretch of land from Europe until Jerusalem (Antioch, Nicaea, Edessa). Problem: The Muslims and the Christians both wanted control of Jerusalem. It is the holy land for both religions. Groups involved: Catholic Christians, Eastern Orthodox Christians, and Muslims (Sunni and Shia) Important people: Pope Urban, Emperor Alexius, Baldwin, Godfrey Saladin (united Sunni and Shia to fight against the Crusaders) Result (what happened in the end?): At the end of the first crusade the Christians won, but the Muslims won the last crusade.
