Georgia Studies Unit 1: Geography of Georgia/Georgia’s Beginnings Lesson 1: Where in the World is Georgia?

Lesson 1: Where in the World is Georgia? Learning Target I can identify the significant geographic regions and features of Georgia and explain how each has impacted Georgia’s growth and development. This is an essential question for this section of the chapter.

Geography of Georgia Region – An area of land that shares common characteristics with itself but whose characteristics are different than other surrounding areas. Nation – Political division of land; also known as a country. Continent – One of the seven large areas of land that cover the surface of the Earth. The seven continents are: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. Hemispheres – Half of the earth. Refers to the halves of the earth formed by the Equator (northern and southern) and the Prime Meridian (eastern and western).

Geography of Georgia Georgia is located in the following areas: -Region: South, Southeast, etc. -Nation (Country): U.S.A. -Continent: North America -Hemispheres: Northern and Western Georgia’s warm and humid temperate climate help to make GA both a good farming area and a good tourist spot. Each of these factors help to bring businesses and people to Georgia.

How well can you identify the key geographic features of Georgia? You have received a blank copy of the state of Georgia. You can use any of the resources in the classroom and/or your personal device to locate the five geographic regions of Georgia.
