Recap: Characteristics of Self Characteristics- (traits or qualities a person has) Traits- (the qualities that make you different from everyone else) Physical traits (hair color, eye color, shape of nose) Personality traits (shy, timid, outgoing, talkative) Heredity(genes, inherited) Environment- (family, friends, school) Character- (the traits that guide you in deciding right from wrong”) Unique-(existing as the only one)

Learning Styles- Define the words below. You may use a partner Visual- Auditory- Tactile-

Learning Styles Learning Styles- the way a person learns best Visual- students learn by using their eyes to see information Auditory-students learn through listening and hearing information Tactile-students learn by touching or physical engagement with information

Family Family-A group of people related to one another by blood (birth), marriage, or adoption. Relationships-a pattern of interaction with one or more persons over time. Generation-all the people who are born and live in about the same time span.

Friends Friend- someone you care about, trust, and respect Trust-to believe a person is honest and reliable Share-to experience or enjoy with others Peers-people who belong to the same age group Peer pressure-the influence people’s peers have on them Negative peer pressure Positive peer pressure Reputation-what others think of a person Dating- participating in an activity with another person you are attracted to. Group Dating-when several people of both sexes meet for an activity (Think of a double date) Safe form of dating until one gets to really know the other person Bully-a person who uses strength or power to persuade or pressure others to so something

Conflict Conflict-a disagreement between two or more people. Conflict Resolution-the process of finding a solution to a disagreement Crisis-affects the functioning of a family Mediator-a person not involved in the conflict, but helps settle the conflict (A peer can be a mediator as well as an adult) Compromise-an agreement in a conflict in which both sides are willing to give up a little of what they wanted Challenge-a demanding or difficult task or situation that can be a source of distress Solution-an answer to a problem
