NONVERBAL Cues...... We use non-verbal communication to create impressions. Non-verbal communication is used to manage interaction.
Nonverbal communication is a primary means of expressing emotion.
We convey affection, power, respect, and dominance through nonverbal cues
Nonverbal communication also is used to send messages of power and persuasion.
Personal Space Close Talker When personal space is invaded, communication is impeded (blocked or hindered)…why?

Visual Territory People come into a room and glance for less than three seconds to find out where to sit. People will leave spaces between if given that option. Territorial on school busses – my spot!
Do ACTIONS speak LOUDER than words!? Non-verbal communication: Used to REPEAT a verbal message (pointing in a direction while stating a direction)
Do ACTIONS speak LOUDER than words!? Used to COMPLEMENT or sometimes CONTRADICT the verbal message (winking)
Do ACTIONS speak LOUDER than words!? REGULATE interactions (cues to convey messages and let other know when to speak)
Do ACTIONS speak LOUDER than words!? Actions SUBSTITUTE for the verbal message finger to lip to indicate the need to be quiet….a nod instead of “yes.”
