3.1 Definitions Recall a quadratic equation in “one variable” is an equation that can be written as A root of an equation is a “solution” of the equation above. ROOT = ZERO = X-INTERCEPT

The Fundamental Theorem of Algebra If f(x) is a polynomial of degree n where n > 0, then the equation f(x) = 0 has exactly n solutions. If a solution is repeated twice it is counted as two solutions.
