News from Room 211 Our Month What’s Coming Up Notices Mrs. Leary Month Ending March 31, 2019 Our Month What’s Coming Up March was a busy month in Room 211! This month, we started and completed unit 6, a geometry unit. The assessment was given on March 25th. In Social Studies we learned about the Quartering Act and the Stamp Act. We used a readers’ theaters to learn about The Boston Massacre and The Boston Tea Party. Weather continued to be our focus in science. This month we learned about the properties of air and air pressure. We also conducted wild weather research. In writing, we practiced opinion writing. We read articles, developed pros and cons, wrote a thesis statement, and developed reasons. In reading, we completed our first book club book, and we have started our second. We have also completed our character studies unit. Lastly, we completed the fables unit. Math – In April, we will start unit 7, the fractions unit. Science – We’ll start April learning about fronts. We will also start to create GoogleSlides to present our wild weather research. Social Studies – We’ll continue to learn about the events leading to the Revolutionary War. ELA – In reading, we will start the poetry unit. We will also work on open response writing. Fable Art Notices Ms. Arnott was our guest reader on Read Across America Day The PTO fundraiser is April 5th. Our raffle basket is Kids in the Kitchen and donations are appreciated.
