Who Am I Unit Overview Please see the Unit Outline All of these assignments will be handed in by the due date Create a folder in your documents on the computer in which to put these in Organization is key to keeping all of your things together to submit them by the deadline (Monday September 17th)

To Complete Today Accomplishments Something You’re Proud Of Interests

To do… Write down a list of accomplishments and credentials that you already have, such as: A Bronze Cross in swimming Camping experience Knowledge of another language Volunteer activities Computer skills Good grades in a particular subject Experience in extra-curriculars Physical fitness Activity (to be handed in!): Compare these accomplishments and credentials to the chart you made already about what you like to do, what you do well and things that are important to you (Wednesday’s class). Do you see any connections between your interests and your credentials? Do you see any patterns? Make note of the areas where you have many accomplishments, and areas where you are lacking. Write a paragraph of at least 5 complete sentences explaining your observations.

What are you Proud of? It is important to examine your strengths so that you are able to build upon them, as well as being able to recognize your weaknesses so that you can work on improving yourself. Activity: Write half a page (minimum) to a full page telling a story about something that you are proud of. It can be a personal attribute, how you acted in a challenging situation, an accomplishment- anything that you are proud of yourself for. This will be handed in!

What Are My Interests? What do you like to do? Do you have on main interest? Or do you have many different interests? People who do work that they enjoy tend to have chosen jobs that are based around their interests. Take time now to brainstorm a list of your interests and think of jobs that could relate to them.

Interest Sorter Complete the interest sorter (get handout from Mr. MacVichie). These Categories group together similar interests. You can use these categories to find out things that may interest you, too.

Interest Activity Brainstorm 5 occupations that would suit someone with the following interests (you may not find an occupation that fits all of the interests but try to match as many as you can!): Do any of them appeal to you? Why? Reading Math Building/ fixing things Music Sports Science Helping People Nature Computers
