Definitions: Capitalism, Social Reformism & Feminism Capitalism is an economic system in which trade, industries, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned and operated for profit. Social Reformism An ideology that advocates social changes that fight poverty and other consequences of industrial development. Feminism Feminism is a political, social, and cultural movement that aims at equal rights for women.

Capitalism Review Industrial Development: the British business class provided investment capital and then earned profits making them even wealthier. The industrial labour force came from the French Canadians and immigrants including mainly the Irish. Capitalism and industrialization were the cause of major social inequality. Cities started to be divided into districts based on socioeconomic and linguistic divisions.

The Industrial Labour Force French Canadians (Eastern Districts, St-Henri) Irish Immigrants (Western Districts, Griffintown) Other Immigrants Italian, Chinese, Jewish - St. Laurent Blvd. Black Anglophones from the U.S and British Colonies in Antilles – Little Burgundy Workers settled close to factories, construction sites and train stations.

Social Reformism Review Major inequalities created by capitalism. Organizations created by women from the elite classes of English and French society fighting poverty and other consequences of industrial development.
