What is religion? Ancient Egyptians had no word for religion. Worshipped many gods Heavenly bodies Natural forces

Osiris Famous story = death and resurrection Killed by evil brother Seth Cuts body into fourteen parts – scatters them Isis- wife finds them, uses magic to bring back to life Becomes ruler of the dead Symbolizes new life in the after-world

Afterlife EVERY deceased soul had to be judged in the Hall of Two Truths Dangerous journey through the underworld filled with monsters to get there Egyptians placed prayers and spells to protect from creatures
