Resources and their usefulness

What is a resource? Information A map Figures Website A book Newspaper And much more!!!

What does a Resource provide? Information Facts Figures Answers to questions Accounts of events

Describing a source When you are asked to Describe a source you are being asked to to tell us briefly what that source is about. When you are asked to explain why and how it is useful you have to tell us about the information and it has provided, the way it helped your research, and how important this was.

For example you are writing a project about local places for young people to hang out

“Young gets a cool space” from the Leader, on August 7 2013 written by Belinda Connolly, is a newspaper article about the new Chimp Factory. It details what the space will be used for, why it is being built, the inspiration for the space and some information about the people behind this project. This source is useful because it conveys information about a place, the chimp factory, that is being built for young people to hangout. The article describes some of the activities that young people like to do and how this centre will provide for them.

Structure You must include: The name of the resource, who it is by A brief description of the resource How and why it is useful
