Steps to Multiply Multi-Digits Write problem vertically with place values lined up Multiply all the numbers in the top by the bottom number in the ones place Make sure to carry as needed Write a zero in the ones place underneath the product you just finished Repeat step 2 with the number in the tens place If there are no more numbers in the bottom to multiply by, you add the products to get your final answer If there are more numbers in the bottom you continue to multiply using steps 2 and 3 When you add the zeros, you add a zero for every place value you move over Example: multiplying by the tens place = 0 multiplying by the hundreds place = 00 multiplying by the thousands place = 000
