Project Description Individual Tutoring: One Hour Sessions Tutor two first grade students who struggled in reading. Ms. Helm wanted me to work with the students on sight word identification using the pre-primer Dolch sight word list. Focused on 20 words.
Project Details Pre and post test administered using flash cards. Each one hour session: Administer sight word test Focus on four words each day Complete worksheets on each sight word. Use play doh to create words. Give sight word list to students to take home to study with guardian Create flash cards for students to keep in desk to study

Reflections What They Learned: What I Learned: I feel that Student A benefited and learned some of the content. However, I can’t be sure as to whether it was from me or from help he received at home. What I Learned: Most difficult observation I have ever had Every BD different Smallest incidences would set them off. Would completely break down in a matter of seconds. Breakdowns varied in level of aggressiveness and verbal responses Short attention spans and all benefited from lessons only lasting 10-15 minutes with hands-on materials used. Students only responded to Ms. Helms-created problem because she was frequently out of classroom. She was extremely stern, zero tolerance policy Changed my mind about medicating children
