Early College Experience NWACC Early College Experience in partnership with Rogers Public Schools, provides students the opportunity to earn Associate of Arts or Associate of Liberal Arts and Sciences Degrees while attending high school. Associate of Arts Associate of Science – Liberal Arts & Sciences

Program Benefits Earn an Associate Degree and High School Diploma upon graduation. Attend classes on the NWACC Campus for ½ day. Facilitate transition between high school and college. Reduce time and cost of obtaining a Bachelors Degree.

Highlights 50 slots for students in the 2019 – 2020 school year. Rogers Public Schools pays the tuition and fees for students in the program. Students buy or rent textbooks. Morning OR afternoon classes to accommodate other coursework or extracurricular activities. Authentic college experience. Students are enrolled in sections with “regular” college students. NWACC Office of High School Relations will work with each high school student to supply information on student progress and attendance in their courses.

Admission Transportation Must meet NWACC admission requirements. Additional guidelines or application/interview process may be developed to ensure students are prepared for the workload and responsibilities associated with the program. Transportation MORNING students will provide their own transportation to the NWACC campus. AFTERNOON students will provide their own transportation home from the NWACC campus. Shuttle bus will be provided mid- day to pick up MORNING students and drop off AFTERNOON students.

FRIDAY No Classes at NWACC On Fridays – RPS students will be required to be on the NWACC or RPS campus for library, computer, research or study opportunities during the time in which they normally have college classes. Students are still required to attend RPS classes on Fridays. Fridays are designated meeting days with the Early College Experience High School Advisor.

Course Sequence Course sequence fulfills NWACC Associate degree requirements. RPS counselors will work to ensure all high school graduation requirements are met through the course sequence. Courses on the NWACC campus utilize a Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday course schedule.

Associate of Arts Associate of Science The Associate of Arts (AA) degree is a two-year program made up of general education courses. Career Options: Designed to transfer therefore does not qualify students for any specific career. The competition of an associate degree will improve the overall employability and will make students eligible for employment opportunities that require an associate level degree. Transfer Options: Designed to transfer to any Arkansas public four-year university. Designed for students who want to major in a STEM field. STEM majors include Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, and Math. This degree is also recommended for anyone planning to pursue pre-professional studies, such as pre-med or pre-vet. Career Options: Designed to transfer therefore does not qualify students for any specific career. The competition of an associate degree will improve the overall employability and will make students eligible for employment opportunities that require an associate level degree.
