Qstream Participant Experience Making people better at what they do…

Based on Scientific Research Clinically proven to increase retention by up to 170% Durably changes behavior to improve patient outcomes Spaced education methodology Studies show that people forget up to 79% of new information within days and months Qstream is proven by science and by the market - over 20 randomized clinical trials that confirm Qstream is the only scientifically proven tool to increase knowledge retention and change behaviours. As participants, you’ll play a game on your phone, strengthening skills that matter the most. It’s quick, effective and fun. A few questions will be sent to your mobile device (or laptop/desktop) every few days. You’ll earn points as you answer and compete against peers in a friendly leaderboard competition. Are you thinking, “What’s in it for me?” … Well, as you answer the questions over spaced intervals, the underlying algorithm of interval reinforcement effectively boosts retention by up to 170%, and durably changes behaviors. Questions are repeated based on whether your answer correctly or incorrectly and explanations are provide every time to reinforce key messaging. Additional info: Qstream co-founder Dr Price Kerfoot, spaced-education pioneer and Harvard Medical professor, through his own experiences teaching medical students who often forgot critical information, challenged the way people learn, retain and apply new information. Research states that 79% of new information is forgotten in just 30 days, so we asked the question...   “How can we help people improve their proficiency for the long term and how can this be measured?” So, Dr Kerfoot started to dive into the concept of spaced-learning, testing principles in over 20 randomized, peer-reviewed clinical trials using Qstream’s technology: with the spaced-learning algorithm, he was able to prove time and again that this resulted in a significant impact on knowledge retention and behavior change among the test cell. Qstream is the only scientifically proven microlearning technology available, and we are proud that our co-founder is on our team and that his research is referenced by other microlearning experts and vendors. Let’s take a closer look …

- HOW IT WORKS - The Participant Experience Notify Answer scenario View result Explain Rank The participant flow: Mobile first and available on any device through the cloud – iOS or Android and via a browser if working on a computer Challenge-based learning – scenarios are presented as a Q&A format to develop critical thinking Immediate feedback on whether a response is correct, including how peers responded Explanation for each challenges helps with continued reinforcement and building critical thinking for long term retention Game mechanics such leaderboard rankings by individual and team support engagement, as does the ability to comment to discuss answers and encourage team mates Let’s take a closer look at each of these steps …

Accessible from any device connected to the internet Simple. Effective. Fun. Let’s Get Started Accessible from any device connected to the internet Connects you to Qstream with one click What should you expect? On <date> you will be enrolled in a Qstream called “Title of Qstream”. A Qstream is a set of questions. You’ll receive a welcome email from <site name> and can start answering questions immediately. You will be prompted to create a password on your initial login but after that, you’ll be connected seamlessly to Qstream from your email notifications. Your first interaction with Qstream will be simple – Check your email, open the welcome message, and create your password.

Answering your 1st Question Let’s Get Started Answering your 1st Question Question Results Explanation

Participant Experience Results & Feedback Responses Answer choices Results Provide a little more information on the “Feedback/Results” page: Regardless of whether the question was answered correctly or incorrectly, the participant will see: The answer choices and a key that indicates which of those answer choices were correct, which were incorrect and which one you chose (indicated by blue arrow). Not only will participants see how they answered, they’ll see how the rest of the group is answering as well (%). The % indicated how the other participants answered this question and which answer choices they chose. Results – Points are awarded for incorrect and correct answers so you get points just for playing the game. 50 points are awarded for the correct answer, 30 points if you answer incorrectly and partial points if you choose only some of the correct answers for a multiple correct answer questions. Points are ONLY awarded the first time a question is presented. So in this case, when this question comes around again, regardless of how you answer it – you won’t earn any points. But, when you answer a question 2x correctly in a row – you’ll earn bonus points because you will have retired that question. The participants who answer questions as soon as they received their question notifications, and answer correctly, will be ahead on the leaderboard. It’s important to keep up with your questions because they’ll pile up and you will not be able to answer them all at once. You’ll have to answer them according to the spaced learning settings (i.e., 2 questions every other day, or in this case 5 questions every day). Partipcatns who don’t answer questions on the day that they’re made available will fall behind. Some will be able to catch up toward the end of the Qstream but that isn’t always possible (depending on how many questions are missed and when they’re missed) and may result in some participants not completing all the questions before the Qstream ends.
