Neutropenic Sepsis Algorithm Patient has had chemo within the last 6 weeks and shows ANY of the following: Symptoms Fever of 38⁰C UTI Unwell or deteriorating Diarrhoea Rigors Infected line Tachycardia Other local sign of infection Tachypnoea Excessive/unaccustomed irritability or lethargy Hypotension Cough Urgent Assessment & Investigation Temp Blood cultures -peripheral and PICC/ Hickman line MEWS Bloods: FBC, U&Es, CRP, LFTs Type/date of last chemo Sputum, MSU or CSU Commence IV Antibiotics urgently within 60 min DO NOT WAIT FOR FBC Piperacillin/Tazobactam 4.5g tds IV Meropenem 1g tds if allergic to penicillin Oncology Pts: 0830-1630 Contact AOS on bleep 2274 OOH Contact oncall Oncologist/ Haematologist for Advice.
