Research Project ENG 9

Steps Pick topic Research topic Write thesis Write paper Cite sources Revise paper

Pick a Topic Choose one from the following topics: Christian X Denmark Sweden Denmark Resistance Your purpose is to prove this topic was important to WWII.

Research You will use two sources. Source One: Number the Stars Source Two: Internet source of your choosing You must find 5 quotes to include as researched information in your paper. These quotes will eventually help prove your thesis.

Research (cont.) Go to my weebly. Verkampharrison.weebly.com Find “English 9,” and click on “Research Project.” Find your topic and the links below it. Use the provided sources to find information about your topic.

Research (cont.) Remember to find information about the purpose of the paper! Record your quotes and the title of the website on your paper.

Write Thesis What is a thesis statement? A thesis is the roadmap for your paper. It provides the main claim and proof. This is the single most important sentence in your paper.

Thesis Statment Everyone’s thesis should follow this form: “(Topic) was significant to WWII because of (Reason 1) and (Reason 2).” The reasons should be filled in before you start writing your paper.

Write the Paper What does a well-written paper look like? There are 4 basic parts to every research paper: Introduction Body Conclusion Works Cited

Citing Sources Whenever you use information created by someone else, you must give credit to that person. This is called citing. Your paper must have a works cited page.

Works Cited Find your sources and gather the needed information to correctly cite them. Go to easybib.com. Cite the sources. Record your citations on your Research Guide.

Revise Your Paper Check for any spelling or grammar errors you might have. Can you rephrase anything to sound better? Read your paper aloud to a partner and ask if they think you should change anything.
