About Mrs. Walters G0 Pirates! Native to North Carolina Went to East Carolina University on a teaching scholarship and received a Bachelor of Science in Math 18th year of teaching high school Married with 3 children LOVES TEACHING

Goals… to MASTER the fundamentals of this course so as to set a good foundation for college-track mathematics courses To help students become proficient with the Math 1 material so he or she can pass the Math 1 State EOC and earn a math credit To see how mathematics is useful for solving problems in real life

Math Sequence….4 credits needed 1st…..Math 1(math credit) 2nd…..Math 2 3rd……Math 3 4th…..Discrete Math, Advanced Functions, or Pre-Calculus would follow. ICM, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics are additional courses.

Grading…Math 1 Major Assessments: 50% Tests….usually 1 per unit Minor Assessments: 35% Quizzes….at least 1 per unit HOMEWORK: 15% EVERY night!

EXAMS Final EXAM is the state End of Course Exam and will count 25% of course grade!! Some parts are calculator inactive and some are calculator active. The majority of the exam is multiple choice but will also contain some gridded response questions.

HHS RETEST POLICY All students can take retests Format may be different Students need to attend remediation before retest Must take retest on the date set by teacher Retest grade will replace the original test grade
